The Supremacy of Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior

December 2022

Christmas season is truly the most wonderful time of the year. God, in His infinite love and mercy, came down to earth and clothed Himself in human form – fully God and fully man. With thanksgiving we celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom we receive salvation, forgiveness of our sins, and eternal life!

Our hearts are drawn with such love and affection to the newborn Jesus in Bethlehem. Who would have imagined that the God of creation would appear as a helpless infant? Our Lord is always amazing us and surprising us! Yet, as we behold the baby Jesus, we are reminded that He is God with us!

Let’s reflect upon the Scriptures that reveal who our glorious Lord is:

Matthew 16:13-17
Jesus asked his disciples: "Who do you say I am?"
Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed
to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.

Isa. 9:6-7
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
   Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
   Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and peace
   there will be no end.

Hebrews 1:3
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Colossians 1:15-20
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

We serve a wonderful Lord and Savior who dwells in us. Let us continue to reveal Jesus in every sphere of our lives – sharing the Good News of the Gospel and bearing witness to the love, joy and hope that is within us!

May the Lord richly bless you and your family with His peace and presence this Christmas season.

God bless you all,

Pastor Paul
